Most Caribbean countries have many homeless and stray animals. Whether its expats having to leave pets behind or insufficient spay and neuter programs, these animals are left to fend for themselves. Many survive, while others do not.
In Antigua and Barbuda, there are many shelters who look after these strays, the "Dadli Dogs". Most of these shelters provide food, medical attention, and kennels for boarding.
Volunteers, both local and tourists, give the animals the love and attention they crave. They have Adoption Programs and many of these rescues have moved into their forever homes, all around the world.
See below for a brief video of one of these shelters....

The Freaky Tiki Bar and Grill is a favourite hangout for the expat community in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Owned by two Canadians, the decor is South Pacific and the setting is amid palm trees and Spanish Colonial architecture. The bar menu features tropical concoctions served in , well, really freaky cups. The food is excellent, offering traditional Mexican fare and their signature dish, the Great Canadian Maple Burger keeps customers coming back time after time.
In the words of the owners, "At The freaky Tiki, we strive to bring our vision to life as a Caribbean, Hawaiian and Mexican inspired tiki restaurant and cocktail lounge. Our kitchen works hard to create amazing, hand-crafted cuisine with both a Mexican and Polynesian flair."
The Freaky Tiki features local musicians three or four times a week, and through their music they have created a fan base of regulars. Last night was no different. Celebrating Mexico's Day of Independence, two bands played a mixture of Mexican classics and favourite rock songs. Hands were clapping, toes were tapping, and a few adventurous souls danced the night away.
Just like that other famous bar, everyone here really does know your name.
